This is a demonstration of my GPL firmware replacement for the Cricut cutting machine. The main board of this machine has a AVR ATmega128 which can be easily reprogrammed with custom firmware. In this demo, the firmware takes commands from the serial port, and controls the two stepper motors to draw lines and bezier curves. The text was made in Inkscape, converted to SVG, and the path was sent to the machine using a modified version of libcutter. Normally, the Cricut uses a small blade to cut out the shapes, but I’ve installed one of the markers for the demonstration. download firmware here: github.com
